We’ve had some requests lately to support downloading our daily ComhaltasLive videos. While the video files themselves are quite large and not practical for downloading, I’ve set up the audio for each programme or segment to be downloaded or played directly, which should better support visitors with dial-up internet access.

We regret to announce the death of Pat Sweeney, Manchester, former President of Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann. Pat gave a lifetime of service to the promotion of Irish culture and to Ireland.

Comhaltas runs an annual prize drawing called NASC, benefitting the local branches. The winners were announced this last weekend at the annual Congress weekend here in Monkstown, Co. Dublin, and here are the results.

OK, so merchandising is hardly the core mission of Comhaltas, but I’ve made a couple of Comhaltas-branded things available in the Comhaltas Shop area of our website. Right now, you can buy a Comhaltas golf shirt, mousepad, or bumper sticker.

Drumshanbo, Co. Leitrim would be best known in musical circles as the home of the Joe Mooney Summer School but it has added another string to its bow in the last few years. The first official Packie Duignan Week-end took place in January 2007 and was a huge success due in the main to the great respect musicians throughout the country have for the man himself.
