Ceoltoiri Eireann Connacht Council held a function in the McWilliam Park Hotel, Claremorris last Saturday 23rd February. Mass was celebrated in the hotel by Fr. Martin Hillary with music provided by musicians and singer from the Province.

The Annual Convention of Connacht Council, Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Eireann was held in theWyatt Hotel, Westport. Westport is this year’s venue for the Connacht Fleadh.

- Cois na hAbhna Set Dance Competition & Céilí

Don’t miss this great weekend for set dancers in Cois na hAbhna. This is the first year for the Ómós Martin Byrnes event which will consist of a workshop and Céilí with Michael Tubridy and The Tulla Céilí Band
Weekend entertainment will commence with a session of Music and Songs with the Ennis Singers Club on the night of Friday 8th February at 8.00pm.
A workshop and Céilí will be held at Cois na hAbhna, Ennis on Saturday 9th February 2008 in memory of Martin Byrnes who gave a lifetime of service to Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann and to Cois na hAbhna. The workshop on old style set dancing will be conducted by his good friend Michael Tubridy. Michael is well known as a concert flute player, having played with Ceoltóirí Cualann, the Chieftains and the Castle Céilí Band.
A set dancing competition will also take place with a perpetual cup in Martin’s memory presented to the winning senior set. A perpetual cup will also be presented to the winning Junior set with trophies for second and third places in both category’s.
