BUSKING FOR COMHALTAS

Drumshanbo Branch – Tesco save the day for Drumshanbo Comhaltas!
Saturday the 8th December was wild, very, very wet and windy, in fact there were floods everywhere and the planned busking by Drumshanbo Comhaltas and Friends in Carrick on Shannon was in danger of being called off. However a phone call to Tescos, Carrick-on-Shannon and we were back on track again. They gave us permission to hold our busking session inside their lovely new porch. We were sheltered from the worst of the weather, had lovely chairs to sit on and the session took off.
The busking was to raise funds for the Packie Duignan week-end on January 25th, 26th and 27th 2008 in Drumshanbo. Drumshanbo Comhaltas members Brian and Mary Mostyn, Brid and Sven O’Keeffe, Deirdre and Tony Fahy, Padraig McManus, Cliodhna and Tony Moore, Mick and Ceara Mulvey, Monica, Sarah and Orla Ward were joined by the Cortober childrens choir under the direction of Patrice Gallagher and Siobhan Talbot. Sarah and Orla Ward treated us to some top class Sean Nos Dancing and later on Shane Meehan joined the session with some wonderful fiddle playing.
All in all it was a great day of music and dance, thanks to all who participated and to Tesco.
Details of the Packie Duignan week-end can be had from Deirdre 086 8787537.
