Clare Comhaltas and An Fleadh Nua mourn another great stalwart

It is with great sadness that we bring you the news that Paddy Kierse from Clarecastle and Kilnaboy passed away in the early hours of February 2nd. 2010. As Vice Chairman of An Fleadh Nua for a number of years ,his fundraising skills were legendary. Through the lean years of the 80s and early 90s Paddy would regularly bring in over £2000 in sponsorship. For many years he and his good friend Sonny Murray were the anchor of the Friday afternoon session. A loyal supporter of Comhaltas and the Summer Seisiun in Cois na hAbhna , he was a fine whistle player and played concert flute in his younger years. Reposing at Kennedy’s Funeral parlour , Ennis on Wednesday February 3rd. from 5pm. Removal to Clarecastle Church at 7pm. Funeral Mass in Clarecastle Church at 11am on Thursday February 4th . Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dilis.

Frank Whelan, Cois na hAbhna
