Death Of West Clare Musician

Michael McMahon (Mahony) , Ballyvaskin , Miltown Malbay , passed away peacefully early on Wednesday morning (1st. April 2009) at Ennistymon hospital. A well known flute player , singer and set dancer , he was chairman of Craobh Laichtin Naofa CCE Miltown Malbay. His much acclaimed cd “On Malbay’s Shore ” was released by Cois na hAbhna archive in 2008.
Requiem Mass was concelebrated in St. Joseph’s Church, Miltown Malbay, at 11am on Friday, 3 April followed by burial in Freigh cemetery.

How many wonderful nights at The Blonds have we loved his songs and flute and presence, which added so much joy to the sessions. He will be missed and remembered every time we hear his songs being sung and played. God Bless Him! Judith and Barry Merrill
