Dervish at Eurovision

Well done to Dervish, the Irish traditional band representing us at Eurovision. It’s exciting to have exponents of the traditional culture representing Ireland on the international stage. I’m sure that you’ll want to take a look for yourself — what do you think?

Watch the Dervish Eurovision entry?  Watch it and cringe.  I had the misfortune to see a clip of the ‘song’ yesterday.  There is absolutely nothing traditional or cultural about it.  Dervish have made a laughing stock of themselves.  Pathetic!

Well, you can’t argue that they’re not a good band, whatever you think of the song. Personally, I’d agree that the song is more “Eurovision” than “Irish”!—Breandán

Absolutely cringe.  Positively cringemaking.  Why do we have to dilute our wonderful music in this meaningless way.  Why did they do it.

Have to say felt sorry for Dervish.  They went out and did their best to represent us but this whole Eurovision thing is rubbish.  Hopefully any respected Traditional band will stay well clear in future.
