Yes it’s Sligo for a second year running. The Innisfree didn’t participate this year but the Dartry, who were second in 2008, came first before a capacity audience in the Church of the Assumption, Tullamore.

- Fleadh Nua Concerts - Hurry to avoid disappointment!!!

The Kilfenora Céilí Band have done it again! Their National Concert Hall performance in March was sold out and all tickets for their Fleadh Nua Centenary concert in Glór are now also sold. Some tickets are still left, however, for the Wednesday night Chieftains concert in Ennis Cathedral and these can be booked on-line over the Internet.

Today’s the day (Thursday, 23rd April) for the start of a unique event in Irish music and social history. This festival, organized in conjunction with the local branch of Comhaltas, runs until Sunday, 26th April to celebrate the centenary of the world-renowned Kilfenora Céilí Band.

All roads lead to the North Clare village of Kilfenora on Thursday, 23rd April for the start of a unique event in Irish music and social history. A festival has been organized in conjunction with the local branch of Comhaltas to run from 23rd to 26th April celebrating the centenary of the world-renowned Kilfenora Céilí Band.

The Senior Céilí Band competition at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann is always one of the most watched and anticipated annual events on the Irish music calendar. We’re here down in Tullamore, Co. Offaly, the host city for this year’s Fleadh Cheoil, and I’ve just watched the last band leave the stage. The standard was fantastic. A special thank-you goes to our hosts in Tullamore for making the Fleadh, once again, a special, exciting and safe event for so many thousands of visitors.

- Cois na hAbhna Set Dance Competition & Céilí

Don’t miss this great weekend for set dancers in Cois na hAbhna. This is the first year for the Ómós Martin Byrnes event which will consist of a workshop and Céilí with Michael Tubridy and The Tulla Céilí Band
Weekend entertainment will commence with a session of Music and Songs with the Ennis Singers Club on the night of Friday 8th February at 8.00pm.
A workshop and Céilí will be held at Cois na hAbhna, Ennis on Saturday 9th February 2008 in memory of Martin Byrnes who gave a lifetime of service to Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann and to Cois na hAbhna. The workshop on old style set dancing will be conducted by his good friend Michael Tubridy. Michael is well known as a concert flute player, having played with Ceoltóirí Cualann, the Chieftains and the Castle Céilí Band.
A set dancing competition will also take place with a perpetual cup in Martin’s memory presented to the winning senior set. A perpetual cup will also be presented to the winning Junior set with trophies for second and third places in both category’s.

For a perfect finish to 2007 come and join us at Cultúrlann na hÉireann in Monkstown for a New Year’s Eve Céilí. Dance into 2008 with céilí and sets to the music of the Fodhla Céili Band.

This concert which took place on Friday night (30 Nov) in Cois na hAbhna featured some of the best young traditional musicians, groups and ceilí bands from the Ennis, Barefield area including All-Ireland winners from this year’s Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann in Tullamore. The concert was be followed by a lively traditional session in the bar.
