Tionól Leo Rowsome, September 11-12, 2009.
The 2009 honoree will be Helen Gannon. Helen, now resident in St. Louis but originally from County Limerick, will be the 2009 Gradam an Chomhaltais recipient. During her many years in St Louis Helen has made a major contribution to the promotion of Irish traditional culture and also to the success of Comhaltas in the Province of North America. Helen is the prime mover in the vibrant St Louis Irish Arts organisation She is currently Chairperson of the Comhaltas North American Provincial Council and is also a member of the national Ardchomhairle.
The Tionól weekend promises to be an extravaganza of Irish traditional culture with sessions, céilí/set dancing and a celebrity concert on the Saturday night. In addition to members of the Rowsome family, the concert will feature many other great traditional performers.
As well as the normal Friday and Saturday night sessions, an after-lunch session will take place on Saturday in the Cultúrlann Bar starting around 2.00pm.
