We have a thriving branch that is involved in many activities: * Castlebar is twinned with a Bavarian town in Germany called Hochstadt. We performed there three years ago. Members from Germany came to a vigure dance workshop given by our resident set dancing teacher Gráinne Kelly. * We have a Comhaltas group of Strawboys who perform whenever they called upon at weedings and various other functions. * Our braches present goal is to make sean-nós dancing strong again around our local area. We have had a number of workshops given by the renowned Cunningham Family from Connemara. * Séan ÓChonfhaola has been giving oral Irish classes to dancing classes to Leaving Cert students on a voluntary basis for the past 25 years in the Ógras organisation. Is duine uasal é. * Martín O Maicín has been writing an ‘alt as gaeilge’ every week on our local newspaper the Connaght Telegraph for the past 10 years.
