History

The first meeting of the Kerry County Board of Comhaltas Ceoltoirí Éireann was held in the Castl Arms Hotel, Ballyheigue, on the 21st December 1959. This year we celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Kerry County Board with the erection of a plaque in the Castle Arms Hotel followed by a seisiún cheoil. We further marked the foundation of Comhaltas in Kerry with a 50th Anniversar Gala Dinner in the Ballyroe Heights Hotel, Tralee. Down through the years Kerry has held many of the great Fleadhanna with Listowel being home to Fleadh Cheoil na hEireann on no less that 14 occasions and this years Fleadh Cheoil na Mumhan will make its ninth visit to Kerry with Kenmare being the host town. Many Branches who have served with both commitment and distinction to make Comhaltas in Kerry what it is today, continuing to flourish with 24 branches at present. Guím Rath Dé ar an obair
