ComhaltasLive #233 - 2: The Innisfree and Ceoltóirí na Mainstreach Céilí Bands
Next we present the Innisfree Céilí Band from Sligo playing two jigs, followed by Ceoltóirí na Mainstreach from Co. Clare with a selection of reels. The Innisfree took 2nd place at the Senior Céilí Band competition at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2007 in Tullamore, where these selections were recorded.
The Innisfree Céilí Band members are: Oisín and Cormac Mac Diarmada and Damien O’Brien on fiddle, Damien Stenson, Máire Nic Dhiarmada and David Sheridan on flutes, Paul Finn on button accordion, Oliver Loughlin on piano accordin, Darraigh Kelly on drums and Charles O’Connor on piano.
Ceoltóirí na Mainstreach band members are: Vincent McMahon, Kevin Finkcane, Ann Marie Vaughan and Joe Rynne on fiddles, Caitríona O’Sullivan on concertina, Mike Butler on button accordion, Seán Griffin on drums and Jack Talty on piano.

Well done Innisfree .Ye have been the peoples champions over the last few years.Great standard of ceili bands in this years competition.Maybe next year guys? congrats to the Allow ceili band and the Tribs ceili band .PJ .H.You still setting the standard .Drummer with the tribs is one of the best drummers of all time ,still listening to the shaskeen ceili band vinal,serious tunes on it.

My god I just cannot believe the Innisfree didn’t win!! Those jigs nearly made me cry....
I wish the cameraperson would show the whole band playing together too, it’s really irritiating the way it just focusses on one musician at a time. Hardly the way you would see them for real.

I have now listened to the Innisfree playing these jigs about a 100 times. I think I’m obsesed. I especially love the last 10 seconds....

Beautiful playing from the inishfree. That performance should have took the title. A very nice melodic line in both jigs. Always liked inishfree along with Teada especially inne amarach album

I have absolutely no connection with anyone in the Innisfree - but on the evidence of these jigs - they were robbed! Must have been Cork’s turn this year.
