ComhaltasLive #239 - 2: Ernestine Healy (Concertina) and Fionnuala Rooney (Harp)

Another ComhaltasLive favourite, here is Ernestine Healy (concertina), one of the Directors of the annual Meitheal Residential Summer School with a selection of jigs, joined by Fionnuala Rooney on harp. The first tune was recorded by Louise Laoise Kelly, followed by “Port na gCairdeanna” and concluding with “The Rolling Waves”.

Just some corrections: The source for the first jig is ‘Laoise’, not ‘Louise’ Kelly. You’d be surprised how one letter changes the entire name. Laoise is Irish for Lisa.

The second tune is Port na Cordola (sp?). This is the Irish title for The Cordal Jig. The Sliabh Luachra connection being Julia Clifford.

Paddy, thanks for the corrections. Sometimes the notes we take at the time are a bit unclear. Cheers, Breandán

The fist jig is called the Four-Six. It was composed by Kieran Hanrahan
