ComhaltasLive #259-1: Whistles playing “Famous Ballymote” and “The Ivy Leaf”
A tin whistle duet by Róisín McDonald from Burren, Co. Down and Aoife Donnnelly of Rostrevor, Co Down with bodhrán accompaniment by Sheila Rooney, also from Rostrever. They play two reels: “Famous Ballymote” and “The Ivy Leaf”, which is this week’s tutorial. We also include another setting of the tune played many years ago by the late great Paddy O’Brien, accordion player and composer.

Brings back some good memories of the good times. They have all grown up now but are still playing.

That first tune is The Flower of the Flock. The Bothy Band recorded Famous Ballymote in a set with that tune so that probably where the confusion arises.
