Concertina player Jack Talty from Lissycasey, Co. Clare and flute player David O’Brien play two reels: the first was composed by John Brady and the second is “The Duke of Leinster’s Wife”. Jack is nephew of the great Noel Hill.

I believe the proper name for the second tune is “The Ladies Pantalettes” but it is usually played after “The Duke of Leinster” and thus came to be called “The Duke of Leinster’s Wife”. Apparently the ladies pantalettes were the very topmost silas on a sailing ship which were usually shaken out when the ship was trying to make as much speed as possible for home.
