This week we present a few recordings made at the new and magnificent Comhaltas Clasaċ Regional Centre in Dublin, which was one of the venues for the Irish Concert Tour in October 2008.

00:00 This week we present a few recordings made at the new and magnificent Clasaċ theatre, a Regional Resource Centre of Comhaltas in Dublin, one of the venues for the Irish Concert Tour in October 2008. Prior to the concert, this selection of reels was played by Dublin fiddle player Caitríona Sears, one of the fourteen musicians, singers and dancers who performed in the tour through the four provinces. Caitríona holds two All-Ireland titles in fiddle, and also teaches music. The music was recorded on October 24, 2008.

The full group plays a selection of jigs, joined by four dancers for “The Humours of Bandon”. The music was recorded on October 24, 2008. The 2008 Tour of Ireland artists are: Jackie O’Connor (concertina and presenter), Humphrey Murphy (flute and singer), Pádraig Sinnot (uilleann pipes), Oisín Morrison (Harp), Darren Breslin (button accordion), Eamonn Moloney (flute and dancer), Nell Ní Chróinín (singer), Caitríona Sears (fiddle), James Duggan (fiddle), Eoin Ó Suilleabhain (banjo), Aoife Greene (concertina), Aisling McMahon (concertina and dancer), Clare McDermott (dancer) and Mark Nestor (dancer).
06:27 Darren Breslin, button accordion player from Co. Fermanagh and current all-Ireland senior champion, performed with the Comhaltas Concert Tour in October 2008. In this video he plays two reels: “Codd’s Grove” composed by Paddy Hayes and “Trip to Manilla” by Ned Kelly. The music was recorded at Clasaċ, the Comhaltas Regional Resource Centre in Clontarf, Dublin on October 24, 2008.
09:11 All-Ireland champion Aoife Green from Co. Galway plays ”The Blackbird Hornipe” on concertina, followed by “Jack Roe’s Reel” with harp accompaniment by Oisín Morrison. The music was recorded at Clasaċ, the Comhaltas Regional Resource Centre in Clontarf, Dublin on October 24, 2008.
12:25 Recorded in December 2008 in Leixlip, Co. Kildare, all-Ireland senior duet champions Séan (fiddle) and Gearóid (concertina) Keane are joined on button accordion by Cormac Murphy for a selection of jigs: “The Morning Lark”, “The Frost is All Over” and “The Rambler”.
16:14 Returning to the Clasaċ Regional Resource Centre in Dublin, fiddle player Caitríona Sears and harper Oisín Morrison play “The Western Hornpipe”, followed by a reel. The music was on October 24, 2008.
