ComhaltasLive #303-2: Triogue Céilí Band from Portlaoise

From Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2009, here are the reels “The Caucus” and “The Durrow Reel” played by the Triogue Céilí Band of Portlaoise, who took third place in the Senior Céilí Band Competition.

Band members are: Blaithnid NicCába, concertina; Erin McGeown, Paula Grant, Phil Clarkeard and Susan Miller, fiddles; Niamh Eurlong and Pauric Stapleton, flutes; Martin O’Connell, button accordion; Lindsay Moynagh, piano and Colm Phelan on drums.

Wow fab reel playing. I hope this band stays together. Defintely an All-Ireland in them if they stick at it

The first reel is called “The Caucus at Secaucus,” composed by French-Canadian flute player Jean Duval for Mike Rafferty. The second reel is actually “The Boogie Reel,” composed by New York accordion player and All-Ireland champion John Nolan.
