In a session just after winning the All-Ireland Under-18 Fiddle title in 2003, Conor McEvoy plays a selection of jigs: “The Little House on the Corner” and “The Connacht Man’s Ramble”. Conor’s parents John McEvoy and Jacinta McGorman come from two well-known musical families.

Yes, the second tune is best known by that title. The funny part is that the first tune is known by the same title! I think at some point, somebody got their birds mixed up, though; Denis Murphy called the first tune The LARK in the Bog. This makes more sense to me, seeing that it bears more than a passing resemblance to “The Lark In The Morning”. Most interesting!

Beautiful performance. Isn’t the second jig “The Geese in the Bog”?
