We generally just use the term “flute” these days, but I do take your point. It can be confusing.

I think that it would be a good idea for Comhaltas to abandon the tern “concert flute” . It was never an accurate description of the instrument to begin with, but now it is totally confusing for those not familiar with Irish music, while those who are familiar know well the type of simple system flutes that are used. “Concert” it totally superfluous and obsolete so why not just “flute” or “feadóg mór”?
