A ComhaltasLive favourite, here is one of the big street sessions at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2007 in Tullamore, Co. Offaly. This session is led by banjo player Mick O’Connor from London and accordionist Oliver Diviney from Galway. Adding to the international dimension is guitar player Tony O’ Rourke from Melbourne, Australia. The reels include: “Bell Harbour”, “The Flax in Bloom” and “Come West Along the Road”.

A ComhaltasLive favourite from Ennis, Co. Clare, Bronwyn Power here plays a hornpipe followed by a lovely interpretation of “The New Road” reel. Our tutorial this week is a setting of this reel as played in New York around 1959/60 by Andy Mc Gann, Paddy O’Brien, Larry Redigan and others.

A ComhaltasLive favourite, fiddle player Carmel Ó Dea from Ballynacally, Co. Clare playes a selection of reels. She learned the first one from the playing of PJ Crotty and James Cullinane, and composed the second reel, “The Ballcarriers” herself.
