Band members are: Katie Jordan (drums), Carmel Burke (button accordion), Eilish Cummins (piano), Vince Jordan (piano accordion), John Burke (fiddle), Doreen Davis (fiddle), Helen Gillespie (fiddle), Anna Marie Jordan (fiddle), Celestine Boyle (fiddle) and Joanna Hocking (flute).

The Allow Céilí Band from Co. Cork play a set of jigs, concluding with “The Luck Penny”, which is this week’s tutorial. The band were All-Ireland champions in 2007. This selection was recorded at the 2008 Senior Céilí Band competition at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann in Tullamore.
Band members are: Meabh Buckley, Geraldine O’Callaghan, Aine O’Connel, fiddles; Gerry Nunan and William Pierse, flutes; John Carroll, accordion; Adrian McAuliffe, banjo; Eimear Buckley, concertina; Clodagh Buckley, piano and Pat Mulcahy on drums.

This week we bring you music from the tutors’ concert at Scoil Éigse, held at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann in Tullamore in August 2008. Scoil Éigse attendance reached a record level of over 800 students this year. Here is a selection of three reels played by tutors Finbar McGreevy on flute from Co. Roscommon and Fiona Doherty on fiddle from Sligo. The reels are: “The Hare’s Paw”, “The Cup of Tea” and “Jimmy McGettrick’s”.
