Uileann Piper Éanna Ó Cróinín, Rath Chairn, Co. Meath plays a selection of jigs - “Gallagher’s Jig” and “Fasten the Leggin”. The first jig is a very old piping version of “The Frieze Breeches”, which Séamus Ennis collected from Pádraig O’Keeffe. It is particularly suited to the ornamentation of the war pipes. The recording was made on the 3rd of November, 2010. Éanna is a member of the group “Carraig”.

Meath; Pádraic Keane (pipes), Galway; Patrick O’Laughlin (accordion), Co. Meath; Seán Hughes, (fiddle); Co. Offally. They play a selection of Sligo and Kerry polkas.

Tim Doyle, CCÉ Craobh Chualann, Dublin took second place in the Senior Uileann Pipes Competition at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2010, plays “O’Dwyer’s Hornpipe”. This recording was made in Classac, Dublin. Tim also took second place in the Slow Airs Competiton.

Two young Cavan pipers recorded in Boylan’s Pub in Kilnaleck on the 13th of July, 2010. Ronan Sweeney from Killeshandra and Kavan Donoghue from Cavan town play the “Maids of Mount Cisco” reel, their piping is very much influenced by PJ Flood who will also be honoured at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2010. Kavan is son of well known accordion player Martin Donoghue, who is one of the main organisers of Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2010.

Francis O’Neill Comhaltas branch of Comhaltas in Chicago, USA uileann piper Isaac Alderson plays two reels: “Father O’Grady’s Trip to Bocca” and “Colonel Frasier” at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann in Clonmel in 2003. Isaac had just won three All-Ireland senior titles on concert flute, tin whistle and uileann pipes.
