Centrally involved for over 70 years in the preservation and promotion of Irish traditional music, song and dance, as well as the Irish language, we’re a non-profit cultural movement with an extensive branch network throughout Ireland and across 22 countries worldwide.

With a global reach Comhaltas has forged strong links with the Irish Diaspora, as well as promoting a positive image of Ireland, and our rich cultural heritage, on the international stage.

Ireland’s traditional music, dancing and singing reflects the character of it’s people. For visitors to the Island, the many fleadhs and festivals organised by Comhaltas at county, provincial and national level, enriches their experience, offering an authentic involvement in Ireland’s vibrant living culture.

‘It is truly inspiring to reflect that from such small beginnings came the founding of Comhaltas and the successful revival of our wonderful musical tradition.’

Uachtarán na hÉireann, Michael D Higgins
