Cork International Folk Dance Festival

– Craobh Dúglais CCÉ are proud to once again be part of the Cork International Folk Dance Festival, which runs from 18th-22nd July 2007.

The Cork International Folk Dance Festival has, since its inception in 1995, brought folk dance troupes from some of the most diverse cultures throughout Europe and the world to perform in Cork. In 2005, as part of the City of Culture celebrations in Cork City, Craobh Dúglais were amongst groups from Youghal to Castletownbere, Crosshaven to Rockchapel, as branches of Comhaltas hosted concerts and events that celebrated European Folk Culture. The finest Irish traditional musicians, singers and dancers in the County, All-Ireland champions among them (some heading for glory in Letterkenny shortly after), took to the many stages for the event.

This year the festival hosts groups from Georgia, Hungary, Mexico and Poland along with local Irish groups from Douglas, Carrigaline, Cork and Youghal. The festival includes visits to the wonderful Seisiún performances in Youghal and features a number of performers who are preparing to compete at Fleadh Cheoil na Mumhan in Newcastle West next weekend.
