Fleadh Nua in Full Swing!

– Last night saw the opening of Fleadh Nua 2008 with an electrifying “Tribute to Frank Custy” concert in Cois na hAbhna. The capacity audience were entertained by Frank’s ex-pupils and friends who included Siobhán Peoples, Trish Clark, Eoin O’Neill, Lorraine O’Brien, Siobhán O’Donohue, Ralph Morgan, Tony Cullinan, Mary Custy, members of the Dyseart Céilí Band, the Carron & Toonagh session groups and many more.

Today continues with the first in a series of free lunchtime concerts at 1.00pm in the museum followed at 4.00pm by a Foinn Seisiún workshop in the Templegate Hotel. Cois na hAbhna hosts an Oiche Ghaelach tonight followed by a Fleadh Club session in the Bar.

A very special concert takes place in Cois na hAbhna on Wednesday night featuring Seán Ó Sé and the Turloughmore Céilí Band.

The band is from Clare and the name is inspired by the landscape and geology of the northern part of the County. The music reflects the styles of County Clare. Together with the legend that is Seán Ó Sé the night will consist of the presentation of a series of songs in both Irish and English drawn from their new recording.
