KILFENORA CÉILÍ BAND CENTENARY FESTIVAL

All roads lead to the North Clare village of Kilfenora on Thursday, 23rd April for the start of a unique event in Irish music and social history. A festival has been organized in conjunction with the local branch of Comhaltas to run from 23rd to 26th April celebrating the centenary of the world-renowned Kilfenora Céilí Band.

Few orchestras or musical ensembles can claim a hundred years of history – and indeed the Kilfenora has its origins in a village fife & drum band stretching back into the 1870s. Contributing to its uniqueness are its roots in a web of local families who have supplied many of its members over the century. Also unique is the Band’s feat of winning at the All-Ireland Fleadh Cheoil three years running on two occasions – 1954/55/56 and 1993/94/95.

The festival will run from Thursday 23rd April to Sunday 26th April in Kilfenora – click here for a listing of the main events.

The Kilfenora Céilí Band are also featured in concert at Fleadh Nua in Ennis on Saturday, 23rd May and tickets are now available online.

Don’t miss these unique events which will never be repeated!
