Remembering Bunting Festival

– This is the inaugural Remembering Bunting Festival. It aims to celebrate, our shared heritage through a series of performances and talks featuring on the contribution made by Edward Bunting towards Irish musicology. The event is funded by The Executive Office, through the Together Building A United Community Programme and the Reconciliation Fund of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and forms the finale to a year long programme of activities which has focused on the bringing together traditional musicians from both the Newcastle Branch of Comhaltas, along with members of the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association of Northern Ireland and the Music Service for Pipes and Drums. The festival will feature the first performance in Belfast of the 20 piece CEOL cross community band, who will play at St. George’s Church, High Street, Belfast, where Edward Bunting worked for two years as organist.
