- Fonntraí - Great Irish Traditional Nights in Dublin

Fonntraí, the longest running stage show of its kind in Dublin (over 30 years), takes place throughout July and August each Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday night at Cultúrlann na hÉireann in Monkstown. The show plus the traditional session of “ceol agus craic” that follows offers audiences a memorable night of unique Irish entertainment.

Come and join musicians from all over Clare in what will be a very memorable Fleadh in the North Clare town of Kilfenora. In 2009 the town celebrates not only the re-establishment of a very vibrant Branch of Comhaltas but also the centenary of the founding of the world renowned Kilfenora Céilí Band in 1909! See members of this legendary céilí band on Wednesday night in Linnane’s Bar and also again on Saturday night where they will provide music for dancers in the Community Hall.

- Ennis Under Siege for Fleadh Nua

Fleadh Nua kicks off with a record breaking Siege of Ennis on Sunday, 17th May. Cork set a world record In September, 2005 when 8,371 dancers danced the Siege of Ennis for 5 minutes continuously. Fleadh Nua (appropriately in Ennis), in conjunction with the Special Olympics, expects to break this record.
To motivate the dancers (if this were necessary in the Banner County) music will be provided by Clare’s own Kilfenora Céilí Band.

We’re having a great time down here in Tullamore — the Fleadh Cheoil is in full swing, after a week of Scoil Éigse. Anyone in the area should definitely come down - great sessions, great concerts, and (if you’re into such things), a chance to watch some excellent competitions.

- World’s Largest Session Ever !!

If you feel like making history, well here’s your chance to be part of the largest session ever. Last year’s event was fantastic with over 2,700 musicians taking part but this year they aim to go one better and break this record. The event takes place on Friday, 22 August in O’Connor Square, Tullamore starting at 8.00pm.

It’s that time at last so let the festivities begin!! Yes the Leinster Fleadh has arrived and a great weekend of ceol, rince, amhrain agus craic is just about to begin
The Official Opening of Fleadh Laighean 2008 will be held in Amharclann Naithí - Ballinteer, Dublin at 8.00pm tonight (Friday 11th July). Music will be by Craobh Naithí and Ceoltóirí Óga Laighean.

- Music notation may not be the best way to get a "feel" for traditional music. Unlike classical music, Irish traditional music generally cannot be notated exactly the way it is meant to be played, and music notation doesn't always lend itself well to the transcription of Irish ornamentation.
