A selection of flings played by the Mulcahy family from Abbeyfeale, Co. Limerick at the Peig Ryan Tribute Concert in Cappamore Co. Limerick on 1st June 2007. Well-known button accordionist Mick is joined by his daughters Michelle and Louise on fiddle and flute. The flings are: “Her long golden hair” by Junior Crehan and “The Cameron Highlanders” composed by Scottish fiddler [Scott Skinner](http://www.abdn.ac.uk/scottskinner/index.shtml “More about Scott Skinner”) and published in 1888. Billy Mc Glynn is on bouzouki. 04:21 | Muireann Nic Amhlaoibh, well-known traditional singer and musician of Danú fame sings “An Spealadóir” (a West Kerry song) and together with Michelle Mulcahy on accordion follows with two reels: “The Caucus” and “The Wind That Shakes The Barley”. Uilleann Piper and pipe maker Mickey Dunne represents many generations of the famous Dunne family who traveled all over Ireland playing at fairs and sporting events. Mickey plays “The High Level Hornpipe” and “The Bucks of Oranmore” reel. 13:40 | 
Originally from Newport, Co. Tipperary, button accordion player Murt Ryan and his brother Noel (guitar) now live in Ennis, Co. Clare. Together with well-known banjo player Marcus Maloney from Cappamore, Co. Limerick, they play three reels ending with “[The Whistling Postman](http://comhaltas.ie/music/detail/the_whistling_postman “The Whistling Postman – Sheet Music”)” which is this week’s [tutorial](http://comhaltas.ie/music/detail/the_whistling_postman “The Whistling Postman – Sheet Music”). Although often credited to Paddy O’ Brien, the accordion maestro and composer from Nenagh, Co. Tipperary, Paddy did not compose this tune. However, he did compose a reel, “The Four-Leafed Shamrock”, the beginning of which slightly resembles “The Whistling Postman”. 18:14 | 
Legendary accordion player Bobby Gardiner plays a hornpipe, a jig and a reel on melodeon at the Peig Ryan Tribute Concert. Bobby, currently a member of the Brú Ború Troupe in Cashel, Co. Tipperary, lived in the USA during the 1960s. 
The programme concludes with a presentation to Peig Ryan by Senator Labhrás Ó Murchú, Director-General of Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann, in recognition of Peig’s lifetime of preserving and promoting Irish musical traditions and influencing so many others in music-making. Many tributes were also made to Peig’s late husband Mick, fondly remembered for his contribution to singing and set dancing in particular. The Chairman of the concert organising committee was Tómas Ó Maoldomhnaigh, Peig’s nephew and Árdrúnaí of Comhaltas.
