Tipperary. Bláithín plays her composition – a hornpipe which she calls “The forgotten road to Nenagh” on mandolin. The Competition is open to all age groups. Mayo, plays a multi-part jig “The Humours of Ballyloughlin”. 491.16 One of the singers in the Macalla na hÉireann Comhaltas Concert Tour of Ireland 2015, Alice Fitzgerald from Dungarvan, Co. Waterford, sings “Way back in 1916”. Recorded in Brú Ború, Cashel on 23rd October 2015. The concert presentation by Comhaltas commemorated through Irish song, music and dance, with narration, the long sequence of events that led to the 1916 Rising. Incidentally, the song was written by accomplished Tipperary composer, the late Father Bracken, and won the ’Newly composed Ballads’ competition at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann in 1966 in Boyle, Co. Roscommon.
