Death of Michael Dowling CCE Listowel

It is with great sadness that the Listowel Branch of Comhaltas Ceoiltóirí Éireann wishes to announce the passing of Michael Dowling. Michael was chairman of the branch for 40 years and was chief steward for Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann in Listowel in 1970 and subsequently chairman for 13 All-Ireland Fleadhanna Cheoil. He was the mainstay of Seisiún in Listowel for many years where his warm smile welcomed both musicians and listeners from at home and abroad. Lyons’s Funeral Home, Derry, Listowel, Co. Kerry tomorrow, Wednesday, evening from 4pm to 8pm. Removal to St. Mary’s Church, Listowel Thursday morning for 11.30am mass. Burial afterwards in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Listowel, Co. Kerry. He will be sadly missed by his daughters, Anne, Geraldine, Imelda and Muriel, sons in law, grandchildren and extended family. He will also be sorely missed by all those who know him through music, song and story, Fleadhanna Ceoil, the All Ireland Wrenboy competition and all the other community events he was involved in.
