Adjudicator training

Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann continues to support the education of adjudicators across all fields.

The adjudication training seminars aim to support emerging adjudicators as they begin their journey as adjudicators with Comhaltas. The core team of Siobhán Ní Chonaráin, Caitríona de Brún, Seán Walsh and Karen Trench are continually working on progressing the range of modules available to adjudicators.

Over the years the facilitators leading these courses has included legendary Comhaltas members: Paddy Ryan, Michéal Mac Aogáin, Seamus MacMathúna and Siobhán Ní Chonaráin. The initial focus of these seminars was on music competitions however singing adjudication has now been included established by Deirdre Scanlan.

Our in-person seminars for emerging adjudicators now include new modules on Cothromaíocht (Equality, Diversity & Inclusion) and Gaeilge. Nóirín Ní Shuilleabháin, Ceannaire Coiste Gaeilge, has prepared a module to encourage adjudicators to use their cúpla focail in all competitions.

Courses for Existing Adjudicators

The first adjudication seminar dedicated solely to existing adjudicators took place online in June and July of 2023. This online webinar for existing adjudicators included modules on:
