Safe to Create Training for Comhaltas
The Ardchomhairle of Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann formally adopted a Code of Behaviour at a meeting on 10 December 2022, one of the first organisations to do so. This forms part of the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, the Gaeltacht, Sports and Media’s Safe to Create Programme.
The Code incorporates the organisation committing to the following 4 broad strands:-
- Adopting a zero tolerance approach to the damaging behaviours of bullying, harassment, Sexual harassment, humiliation, victimisation, assault and sexual assault;
- Have a mechanism for accepting and investigating complaints of damaging behaviour in a timely fashion;
- Raise awareness of the damaging behaviours; and
- All employees / members to undertake three free online training courses
These training modules are developed for staff and all members of Comhaltas in a leadership role.
The Three courses are:
- Tackling Bulling and Harassment at Work
- Addressing Unconscious Bias and Basic Awareness in the Workplace
- Being an Active Bystander in the Arts and Creative Sectors

When the courses are complete, please send your certificates of completion to [email protected] your will then be sent an Employee Pledge. Please read and sign the pledge and return to [email protected]. The terms “employee” and/or “worker” includes volunteers.
Each course is only approximately 60 mins long. We also understand that there may be some technical issues with regards to the accessing and working through the modules. A video has been attached which demonstrates how to do these modules.
