Q. When can I register for the SCT exams?

A. The registration period for the SCT Exams each year is between November and late January.

Q. How do I pay for my exam?

A. Payment can be made online by logging into your SCT account. Click edit application. Here you will see a link to pay via PayPal. Alternatively you can pay by cheque, postal order or bank draft made payable to Comhaltas and posted to Clasac, Alfie Byrne Road, Clontarf, Dublin 3, D03 H973.

Q. When will I receive my exam date?

A. You will receive a minimum of 14 days notice of your exam schedule.

Q. When do the exams take place?

A. The exams take place between April to mid June, Monday-Sunday from approximately 9:30am-5:30pm.

Q. Do I have to be a member of Comhaltas to sit an SCT exam?

A. No, the SCT exams are open to everyone.

Q. When will I receive my results?

A. The examiner must send your results back to the SCT office to be processed. We aim to get them back to you asap.

Q. What kind of instrument can I use in the exam?

A. You may use any melody instrument in an SCT exam.

Q. How do I contact the SCT office to discuss exams?

A. To comply with GDPR all communication must be between the office via email [email protected] and the entrant using the registered email address.

Q. Can I skip an exam grade?

A. There is no prohibition on grade skips.

Q. How many research projects must I submit for multiple senior grade exams?

A. 1 research project will suffice for multiple exams at the same grade. 1 project per grade will suffice for multiple exams at different levels.

Q. I received over 90% at grade 8, when will I receive a Micheál Ó hEidhin medal?

A. Entrants will receive an invitation for their candidate to attend Comhaltas Annual Congress. Here they will be presented with their Michael O hEidhin medal. If you cannot attend your medal will be posted to the entrant.
