Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann

Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann’s premier event each year, Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann, or the All Ireland Fleadh, is the world’s largest annual festival of Irish music, song and dance. Since its beginnings in Mullingar in 1951, ‘The Fleadh’ has become a national institution, an annual festival now drawing upwards of 600,000 visitors to the host town over the course of a week of festivities and competitions in August each year.

This summer, the host town Wexford will welcome musicians, dancers and performers from across the globe for a mesmerising celebration of Irish traditional music. At the Fleadh you can expect street sessions, intimate pub session, concerts and big-name acts on one of the gig-rigs dotted throughout the town as well as up to 150 competitions showcasing the very best of traditional music talent.

Those who compete for All Ireland titles in music, song and dance at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann have already qualified through participation at County and Provincial fleadhanna held across Ireland during late spring and early summer. There are also qualifying competitors from all over the world including Britain, Japan, Australia, and North America. The competition is intense with solo acts, duets, trios, groups, céilí bands, sean nós dancers, singers and dancers all competing for the coveted title of All-Ireland champion.

Come and experience the very best of Ireland’s musical heritage through this unique festival. Get your toes tapping as you soak up the atmosphere of a trad session or watch the drama unfold as competitors vie for a title. You can even practice your ‘cúpla focal’ (few words) in Irish or drop into a workshop, lecture or exhibition.
