Ceol an Gheimhridh Muster Final
Ceol an Gheimhridh is a youth competition in the province of Munster that is run outside of the annual Fleadh Cheoil. It takes place during the Winter months, from November – January annually as the name suggests. Ceol an Gheimhridh aims to establish standards, provide inter-branch activity and to include as many branch members as possible. The age groups are Under 11 and 11-14, and there are competitions in the following:
- Reed (Button Accordion, Piano Accordion, Concertina, Pipes)
- Wind (Whistle and Flute)
- Strings (Fiddle, Banjo, Mandolin, Harp)
- Polka & Slide (Any instrument)
- Duets (2 melodic instruments)
- Quartettes (4 melodic instruments)
- English Singing
- Irish Singing
- Recitation of a Poem
- Storytelling
- Céilí Dancing (4 Hand/8 Hand Ladies & Mixed)
- Set Dancing
- Mixed Polka Sets
- Céilí Band (2 musicians U17 allowed)
Winners and runners-up at county level will proceed to compete in the Munster final. Solo qualifiers to Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann from Fleadh na Mumhan are ineligible to compete in this years Ceol an Gheimhridh on the category in which they competed in Fleadh na hÉireann.
