Bruce Scott at Mill Theatre Dundrum

Craobh Chualann CCÉ in association with the Leinster Fleadh present a great concert of music, song and dance in the Mill Theatre, Dundrum on Thursday night, 10th July.

Star of the night will be singer/songwriter Bruce Scott. Bruce hails from Liverpool and is well known in traditional singing circles through his many appearances at festivals in both Ireland and Britain and is a regular visitor to the Fleadh Nua in Ennis each year. Bruce was a member of the group who took part in the 2007 Comhaltas Concert Tour of Ireland and the 2008 Tour of Britain. He will also be crossing the Atlantic in October for the Comhaltas 2008 North American tour. No doubt he’ll be performing his self composed ballad “The Colleen by the Shore” which won first prize at the 2004 All-Ireland Fleadh in Clonmel.

Also starring on the night will be a singer who needs no introduction to lovers of traditional Irish song, Niamh Parsons. Niamh has one of the most distinctive voices in Irish music expressing the sorrow and longing of the Celtic soul (Boston Globe). Throughout her career, Niamh has performed with a wide variety of artists, and has appeared at nearly every prestigious folk festival on either side of the Atlantic. As a member of the traditional Irish band Arcady (led by De Dannan’s Johnny “Ringo” McDonagh), she sang on their Shanachie recording Many Happy Returns. She appeared before President Clinton and Irish Prime Minister Bertie Ahern in Capitol Hill, Washington, joined Grammy Award winner Paul Winter for an album and a summer concert in New York, and performed on “A Prairie Home Companion” when the show broadcast live from Dublin.

The concert also includes the highly talented musicians, singers and dancers from Dublin’s Craobh Chualann Branch of Comhaltas.
