Cavan Town Session/Recruitment Night

Cavan Town Comhaltas December Session and recruitment of new members takes place in Backyard, Moynehall on Sunday 14th December from 6.30pm to 8.00pm.

New members will be particularly welcome. Passing on the tradition of Irish culture is what Comhaltas do. You will be treated to a wonderful evening of traditional music and song by children & adults of all ages. The branch intends to run these sessions one Sunday a month. All musicians, singers and dancers are encouraged to attend.

Those seeking information on traditional music classes should contact the Branch chairperson, Martin Donohoe on 086 2342270. The branch would also welcome a donation of instruments to their instrument bank from those who no longer have use for them.

Anyone wishing to join the branch can do so by contacting either the chairperson or the Secretary, Aoife Murray. The membership costs for the year are 20 euro for family membership or alternatively 6 euro for an individual child, and 12 euro for individual adult membership.

Following Congress 2008, the new membership rule came into effect in November 2008 as follows:
No membership fees will be accepted by branches after 30th April 2009
so if you or your children are learning the traditional arts, join Comhaltas now.
Membership of Comhaltas offers an immediate passport to a rich tradition of music, song and dance. It is an introduction to a world-wide community of lovers and practitioners of that musical tradition; a friendly community whose welcome and hospitality is legendary.
Membership of Comhaltas extends an invitation to learn how to play traditional music, to sing and dance in the tradition. It offers access to a living tradition made up of thousands of enthusiasts who meet together in numerous places across the planet to celebrate this cultural heritage and to promote its value, especially among young people.
Membership provides four issues per annum of ‘Treoir’, the glossy and very acceptable house-magazine of Comhaltas, with news, views, reviews, stories, snatches of tunes and songs and much more to inform and entertain the world-wide membership.
