Ceoltóirí an Iarthair are a young group of forty musicians hailing from all five counties of Connacht. All participants have many accolades, individually at County, Connacht and All Ireland level. This group was re-formed almost a year ago and performed on the Gig Rig in Sligo at the opening of the Fleadh Cheoil. Saturday 13th September will be the group’s first performance in what is one of the finest settings for Traditional music in Ireland, Ceoláras Coleman in Gurteen, Co. Sligo. Under the keen mentoring of brother and sister act, Aidan and Breda Shannon, who were members of the original group set up in 2008 under the guidance of renowned composer Michael Rooney, this group has taken the performance further by incorporating many research elements towards material for the show. Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Eireann Connachta are delighted that this project is on the road again and the group will be soon recruiting new artists for 2015. This promised to be a lively night of music, song and dance – a show not to be missed!
