Regular Friday night sessions take place in Cois na hAbhna, Ennis, Co. Clare commencing at 8.30pm with a Slow Session. This will be followed from 9.30pm onwards by a normal traditional session.
These sessions are held in the newly built Teach Cheoil with its excellent bar facilities and first rate accoustic properties that are highly conducive to non-amplified music and song. All musicians and singers will be sure of a warm welcome and even dancers will find room for a figure or two of a set if they feel so inclined
The night starts with a “slow session” which is aimed at improvers and musicians new to the Irish traditional session scene. The slow session starts at 8.30pm and lasts for an hour or so. A list of tune sets, taken from the Comhaltas Foinn Seisiún series, will be used for this session - Foinn Seisiún books and CDs can be purchased at the session. The sets are shown below and will be replaced by new ones once musicians have learnt all the tunes listed.
After the “slow session” the main session follows from 9.30pm onwards.
