Sunday, November 16 is the date for the return to Ceoláras Coleman, Gurteen, Co. Sligo of Fr. James McDonagh & Friends to perform yet another outstanding traditional music concert. This is a very special concert following the release of their new CD entitled ‘Rose in the Heather’, traditional music and songs from south Sligo.
Fr. James, a native of Bunninadden is a flute player, carrying on the tradition of his late father, Sonny McDonagh, a highly regarded and popular flute player in his time. Fr. James will be joined for this concert by family members and these include the second generation of already very talented musicians.
Also on the line up are a group of musicians from the wider Co. Sligo and Mayo areas who have preserved a special niche in traditional music circles. They have specialised in the older traditional local style and present it in concert with the precision and style it deserves.
Fr. James and friends have a great record of presenting concerts in Ceoláras Coleman and the concert on Sunday night, November 16th begins at 8.00 pm. Early booking advisable. A great night of music and song is assured.
