Ireland In Dixie is a gathering of the practitioners of traditional Irish arts, to be held in Atlanta, Georgia, USA over April 12-15, 2007. It is presented by Irish Music Traditions, the Atlanta branch of Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann, and will also serve as the annual convention for Comhaltas North America. We expect to host hundreds of musicians and dancers from all over the continent and the world.
The event will feature:
- Dances every night, with hundreds (!) of dancers on the floor at once;
- Music sessions going on in all the public spaces of the hotel;
- Workshops on instruments, singing, dancing, and other topics during the days;
- Tours of local Atlanta attractions, including the spectacular new Georgia Aquarium;
- A presentation of Irish theatre, including a unique performance by Irish mummers;
- A sumptuous banquet, and show;
- A Pub Crawl to Atlanta’s best Irish pubs;
- An Irish whiskey tasting;
- Meals (can’t forget that!);
- Vendors selling various Irish-related items.
