Kate Purcell is a native of County Clare. Growing up with musicians such as, Seattle/Chicago based, Fiddle virtuoso Martin Hayes as her neighbour, her early influences were mainly Irish Folk, but she also developed a love for contemporary styles particularly a blend of Blues and American Country. Kate began her musical career at local venues; she secured a residency at Dromoland Castle Hotel where she still entertains regularly.

She has been played extensively on Folk and Traditional programmes on Irish Commercial Stations, has been featured by RTE Radio and she appeared on TV Shows such as “KennyLive”, “PM Live”, “Open House”, “Limelight”, “Geanntraí”, “Síbin”, and “Bernie Beo”.

Kate has performed live on Mainstream Radio – John Creedon Show (Radio One) Moloney after Midnight and Alan Corcoran (Radio Two) and is played regularly particularly on Night Time and Early Morning Programmes. She is a particular favourite on Risin Time ( with Maxi) and Failte Isteach (with Donncha O Dualing) both on RTE Radio One.

In the United Kingdom “Shadows of You” is played regularly on BBC Local Stations and is a big favourite on the Mike Harding Show on BBC Radio 2. One of her tracks “ Dress of Green” figured in a Listeners Top Ten Most Requested songs and she was among those short listed for the BBC 2 Folk Awards.

On the Contemporary Scene one single was released commercially. From her first album “ A Dream Unfolds” a limited run of “You Never Said Goodbye” was pressed. This was playlisted on RTE Radio 2, which is a National Station aimed at the younger age group and the single spent 5 weeks in the Charts. “Savannah” was a major Radio hit and was named Single of the Fortnight on two occasions by Ireland’s rock bible Hotpress Magazine. Her albums have also won her awards from Irish Music Magazine, Live Ireland.com and the Chicago Irish American News.

She has been invited to the United States on a number of occasions. These included trips to Florida, Michigan, Connecticut and New York for public performances and private corporate entertainment. One such trip was to entertain the players and guests at the USLPGA Championships at the Desert Inn in Las Vegas. She has previously performed at Milwaukee Irish Fest.

She has toured England several times and has toured Holland for a 30 night Irish Unplugged with “Mairin Fahy” and “The 4 of Us” and was special guest with the band Lunasa during their tour to Hong Kong.
