Following recent overseas performances in Europe, appearances on RTE television and a sell-out concert in Dublin’s National Concert Hall The Kilfenora Céilí Band return home to the village of Kilfenora for a four day extravaganza of traditional music, song and dance. The festival runs from Thursday, 23rd to Sunday, 26th April and includes céilís, concerts, a CD launch, a lecture and exhibition on the history of the Kilfenora Céilí Band, pub sessions and a memorial mass.
A schedule of the Festival events is as follows:-
Thursday, 23rd April
9.00pm - Céilí in Vaughan’s Barn with Four Courts Céilí Band
10.00pm - Singing Night in Linane’s Pub
10.00pm - Traditional Session in Nagle’s
Friday, 24th April
9.30pm to 12.00am - Céilí in Community Centre with Kilfenora Céilí Band
Saturday, 25th April
10.00am to 12.00pm - Children’s Sean Nós and Step Dancing Workshop
1.00pm to 3.00pm - Recital by local musical families in Community Hall
3.00pm - Photographic Exhibition in Community Hall
4.00pm to 5.30pm - Lecture on History of Kilfenora Céilí Band by Garry Shannon
8.00pm to 10.30pm - Celebration Concert with Kilfenora Céilí Band, Tommy & Siobhán Peoples and special guests in Community Hall
10.30pm to 1.30am - Old Time & Céilí dancing with PJ Murrihy and Michael Sexton in Vaughan’s Bar
Sunday, 26th April
11.00am - Mass of Rememberance for deceased members of the Kilfenora Céilí Band in St. Fachna’s Church
12.00pm - Unveiling of plaque commemmorating 100 years of the Kilfenora Céilí Band at the Burren Centre
1.30pm - Traditional music and entertainment by local musicians and dancers in the Square, Kilfenora
2.00 to 6.00pm - Open Air Sessions and Céilí
3.30pm - Launch of “Century” CD by Kilfenora Céilí Band
4.15pm - Tulla Céilí Band in the Square, Kilfenora
5.00pm - Final Concert including presentations to past members of the Kilfenora Céilí Band
9.00pm - Céilí with Four Courts Céilí Band in Vaughan’s Barn
It should be noted that in the event of inclement weather all open air events will take place in the Community Hall
