COMHALTAS CONCERT TOUR OF CHAMPIONS comes to Sligo
Beidh Turas Chomhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann Macalla na hÉireann ar chamchúirt go gairid agus seó tradisiúnta den scoth ar stáitse ar fud na tíre. Macalla na hÉireann, the 2014 Comhaltas Concert Tour of Ireland will perform in Ceoláras Coleman. This annual Tour features the best of traditional talent drawn from the four Provinces of Ireland, they will perform at 14 venues from 12th to 25th October. Each year the tour assembles a fine mix of established artistes together with up-and-coming young stars. These are blended together into a fast-moving and colourful show that appeals to both the connoisseurs and peripheral fans of Irish traditional entertainment- a show that reflects the breadth and depth of traditional Irish music, dance and song.
This year’s impressive line up is as follows: Daoirí Farrell (Áith Cliath) – Fear a’Tí/Amhránaí, Éadaoin Ní Mhaicín (Maigh Eó) – Bean a’ ‘Tí/Fiddle/Amhránaí, Tara Howley (An Clár) – Consairtín, Natasha Sheehy (Luimneach) – Bainseó/Bosca Ceoil, Daithí Gormley (Sligeach) – Bosca Ceoil, Sorcha Costello (An Clár) – Fidil, Conor Mallon (Ard Mhacha) – Píob Uilleann, Alannah Thornburgh (Maigh Eó) – Cruit Hannah Collins (Corcaigh) – Cáirdín/ Pianó, Audrey Murphy (An Iarmhí) – Feadog Mhór, Cliona Creedon (Ciarraí) – Rinceoir/Fidil Seán Ó hAirtnéide (Luimneach) –Rinceoir John Collins (Luimneach) – Rinceoir. Philip Clarke from Cavan is the tour manager and the sound engineers are McElligotts from Tralee.
Beidh fáilte faoi leith roimh (Daithí Gormley) ó Sligeach atá ar stáitse le Macalla na hÉireann i mbliana. There will be a special welcome for local artist: Daithí Gormley from Ballintogher, County Sligo.
