5 days total immersion in Irish music. Open to musicians over 13 years of age on Jan 1 2007. A prior high level of proficiency required. (eg. applicants must be already comfortably capable of playing jigs and reels). At least 4 years experience required.
Students live and breathe music for a week under expert guidance. They experience four types of group classes:
- Masterclasses
- Composition Workshops
- Trad Music Arrangement workshops
- Trad Orchestra
During the week, students have ample opportunity to perform publicly material prepared in all four categories. They also attend concerts given by the tutors and other artistes and various workshops and video presentations. Students also qualify for several very attractive awards and prizes, including:
- A place on the CCE tour of Ireland ‘07.
- A performance at the National Concert Hall (for best group)
- A performance at the National Concert Hall (for best soloist)
- A gig and an overnight (x 2 students)at Ennis Trad Festival.
- A full scholarship to Meitheal ’07 (value €600)
- A half scholarship to Meitheal ’07 (value €300)
- A gig and two overnights (x 2 students) at Corofin Trad Festival
- A gig and two overnights (x 2students) at Nyah Trad Festival, Cavan
The most enjoyable parts of every day are the informal sessions with their peers.
