SHARON SHANNON RETURNS TO DÚN ULADH ON 5TH APRIL
Multi Meteor Music Award winner, Sharon Shannon will play Dún Uladh in Omagh on 5th April as part of her latest acoustic tour, and one of only a handful of Irish dates this year. Following her Lifetime Achievement Award at the Meteors, the success of the Galway Girl hit single with Mundy, and the sellout Christmas tour with Big Band and special guests Shane MacGowan, Dessie O’Halloran and Mundy, Sharon will be hitting the road to get back to basics in some smaller and more intimate venues around the country doing an acoustic set. Sharon, who blends traditional and world music in an eclectic mix has collaborated with some of the biggest Irish artists including Bono, Sinead O’Connor and Hot House Flower’s, Liam O’Maonlai not to mention Christy Moore, Brian Kennedy and international stars such as Mark Knopfler Kirsty MacColl and Elvis Costello.
The triple platinum selling star has been recording as a solo artist since 1991 showcasing a unique high-octane approach that appeals to all. This incredible show, which runs for two hours and twenty minutes, not only reinforces Sharon’s talent as a top Irish star but also showcases her ability as a producer and arranger. Sharon is joined by Gerry ‘Banjo’ O’Connor, Manchunian fiddle maestro Dezi Donnelly, fellow Manchunian Mike McGoldrick on flute and Tim Edey on guitar on a 9-Date Irish Spring Tour. The result is the ultimate “session”, combined with the intimate setting of Dún Uladh Cultural Heritage Centre in which band, guests and audience combine to create an electric atmosphere where everyone is thoroughly enjoying themselves.
