KILFENORA CÉILÍ BAND CENTENARY FESTIVAL

All roads lead to the North Clare village of Kilfenora on Thursday, 23rd April for the start of a unique event in Irish music and social history. A festival has been organized in conjunction with the local branch of Comhaltas to run from 23rd to 26th April celebrating the centenary of the world-renowned Kilfenora Céilí Band. Few orchestras or musical ensembles can claim a hundred years of history – and indeed the Kilfenora has its origins in a village fife & drum band stretching back into the 1870s. Contributing to its uniqueness are its roots in a web of local families who have supplied many of its members over the century. Also unique is the Band’s feat of winning at the All-Ireland Fleadh Cheoil three years running on two occasions – 1954/55/56 and 1993/94/95.

The festival will run from Thursday 23rd April to Sunday 26th April in Kilfenora – [click here](http://comhaltas.ie/events/detail/kilfenora_celebrating_a_century/) for a listing of the main events. The Kilfenora Céilí Band are also featured in [concert](http://comhaltas.ie/events/detail/fleadh_nua_2009_saturday_23_may/) at Fleadh Nua in Ennis on Saturday, 23rd May and tickets are now available [online]( http://purchase.tickets.com/buy/TicketPurchase?agency=GLORMUSICLTD&organ_val=23277&event_val=1449&schedule=list).
