The Bray branch of Comhaltas started officially in September 2007, the decision to open a Bray branch was made because of the increasing interest in traditional music which has been fostered by a large part by local musicians, teachers, primary schools and others in the local community. The fact that many musicians from Bray, Shankill, Enniskerry, Kilmacanogue, Greystones and Kilcoole and as far as Ashford were travelling to Roundwood Comhaltas for their Tuesday night classes prompted parents of these musicians to look at the possibility of creating an independent branch.
