Welcome to Riverstown Branch of Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Eireann. It is hoped that this website will help maintain the memory of James Morrison, that great Irish Traditional musician, who was born at Drumfin near Riverstown, County Sligo.

The James Morrison Teach Cheoil or the Morrison Cottage will commemorate fiddle player James Morrison, his contemporaries and the musicians of the Riverstown area. The building is located off the entrance road to Riverstown Community Park. The sod turning was performed by Senator Labhrás O Murchu, Ard Stiúrthóir Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Eireann. Archive material relating to James Morrison’s legacy of traditional music will be housed at the Teach Cheoil. The Riverstown Branch also posesses a photographic record relating to all of the Morrison Festivals. Anybody wishing to contribute material for exhibition or items which could be copied for the archive may contact: Hon.Sec. Sean Lyons (353)-71-9165880 or Chairperson Paraic Kerins (353)-71-9165283. The cottage will be an added feature to community facilities in Riverstown. Classes in traditional music, song and dance will be held on a regular basis. The cottage is nearing completion. However, additional funding will be needed for finalising the project. In this regard supporters of the project are encouraged to take part in ‘Buy a Brick’ Scheme. Bricks can be purchased for 100 Euro each. Donations can be forwarded to: The Morrison Cottage Fund, Bank of Ireland, Stephen St., Sligo, Ireland A/C No: 76257953, Sort Code 905440.
