ComhaltasLive #200-4: Martin Donohoe
A button accordion solo by Martin Donohue featuring a hornpipe which he composed in honour of the tour’s Fear a’ Tí, the famous singer Séan Ó Sé. One of the many great songs associated with Séan is “An Poc ar Buille” and Martin calls the tune “The Pockar”. He follows with a reel very much associated with Co. Fermanagh called “Hand Me Down the Tacklings”, sometimes called “The Greenwood Lassies”. Incidentally, Martin is also well known as the organiser of the popular Nyah Festival currently running in Cavan. Harp accompaniment is by Nadia Markey.
